Riezlern is one of 3 villages in Vorarlberg’s Kleinwalsertal. Riezlern, located at the beginning of the valley, with its districts of Wald, Schwende, Unterwestegg and Egg, is the largest town in Kleinwalsertal. The Walsertal covers an area of 97 km². It is about 15 km long and about 6.5 km wide. A total of 5,000 people live in Kleinwalsertal. Riezlern lies at an altitude of 1089 meters,
The special feature of this Austrian valley is that it can only be reached by car via Germany. To get to the “rest of” Austria, you either have to hike or take a 45 km long drive.
For this reason, even before the introduction of the euro, there was only D-Mark in Kleinwalsertal.
