The Podersdorf lighthouse on the main jetty, right in the centre of the lakeside resort, was erected as a landmark and for storm warnings for water sports enthusiasts as part of the redesign of the 2 km long lido. It is one of the few lighthouses in the Republic of Austria and also one of the most southerly lighthouses in the entire German-speaking region.
It has a height of around twelve metres, which is enough to make it visible from afar in the flat landscape of the Neusiedl Basin. The tower was built from metal segments and is painted red and white. Unfortunately, the tower can only be viewed from the outside. On warm summer days, the footbridge can get quite crowded.
Tip for photographers: It is best to take photos in the morning, as the tower is then illuminated from the front. In the afternoon you have backlighting.
