Brief info:
- Where is Hirschegg? In Kleinwalsertal, Vorarlberg (not to be confused with Hirschegg in Styria)
- What is there to see? The parish church of St. Anna, the Austrian Alps.
- What can you experience? Hirschegg is a perfect starting point for hikers and cyclists. In winter it is a ski area.
Hirschegg is one of 3 villages in Vorarlberg Kleinwalsertal, next to Middle mountain and RitzlernThe Walsertal covers an area of 97 km². It is about 15 km long and about 6.5 km wide. A total of 5,000 people live in the Kleinwalsertal. Hirschegg is located at an altitude of 1,122 meters above sea level.
What makes this Austrian valley so special is that it can only be reached by car via Germany. To get to the "rest" of Austria, you either have to hike or take a 45km car journey.
For this reason, even before the introduction of the euro, only D-Mark was used in Kleinwalsertal.
In the Hirschegg town centre Here you will find the very beautiful parish church of St. Anna, which is visible from almost every point in the area. Not far from there is also the elementary school with kindergarten and a large public children's playground and the Walserhaus directly on the village square.
The valley station of the Parsennbahn is also located in Hirschegg.
Another highlight is the Ifenbahn, which we of course tested for you have.
Of course, there are some hotels in Hirschegg, including the Ifen Hotel Kleinwalsertal
