Natural stone bridge on the Schwarzwasserbach
Brief info:
- What is the natural stone bridge? A naturally formed stone bridge in Kleinwalsertal
- Where exactly can you find them? On Google: 955F+H2 Riezlern
We are moving from Ifen Hotel Kleinwalsertal on the way to the natural stone bridge, supposedly one of the highlights in Kleinwalsertal. It takes about 20 minutes on foot, and about 8 minutes by bike. Shortly before you reach your destination, you drive along Wäldelestraße. On the left you can see the Au sports field, and on the right a footpath that leads into the forest. You walk along this, parallel to the Schwarzwasserbach. After a few minutes you come to a stream with moss-covered stones and a small bridge. Before you reach the bridge, turn right and after a few meters you will reach the natural stone bridge.
We had seen beautiful photos of the bridge online, with a roaring waterfall in the background and a basin filled to bursting point with water. The natural monument was created by the erosion of the Schwarzwasserbach over thousands of years by expanding existing rock fissures in the Schrattenkalk.
Unfortunately, when we arrive, there is nothing to be seen of any of this. There is no sign of a waterfall and behind the bridge with a span of around 5 meters there is just a small puddle. We had imagined it a little differently. Well, you can't always be lucky. There are other waterfalls in the area, but we'll save that for that day. Nevertheless, the area is recommended for a short hike, maybe you'll have more luck 😉
